Lottery backs new ‘young carers’ project for Bute

Young carers on Bute are set to receive a big helping hand thanks to a Big Lottery Fund award of more than £500,000.

The £542,643 grant has been awarded to Crossroads Cowal and Bute, which provides support services for carers in the area, to set up a Young Carers project for the first time.

The project will support 110 children and young people aged from five to 24 who have caring roles for family members, over a five-year period.

Lauren Park, young carers development worker for Crossroads Cowal and Bute, said: “We are over the moon to hear the exciting news that the Big Lottery Fund have granted over £500,000 to provide a much needed service for Young Carers in the area.”
