The latest phase of Rothesay’s Townscape Heritage Initiative is well under way.

Repairs on the block of flats and shops at 4-7 East Princes Street are being carried out by local building contractor George Hanson.

A grant of £37,949 from the Rothesay THI project, plus contributions from the householders and businesses in the block, is being used to carry out roof repairs, lead work, improvements to gutters and down pipes, timber repairs, loft insulation and maintenance of chimney heads.

Work is expected to be finished by late January or early February, depending on the vagaries of the west of Scotland winter weather.

Jim McNaught, one of the four householders in the block, said: “I live on the top floor and I’m dying to see the work finished.”
