Wind turbines ‘would be positive for Bute’

Auchintirrie farmer Sandy McIntyre (left) says Bute Community Power's proposal to erect two wind turbines on his land is nothing but good news for the island.

The owner of the land where Bute Community Power hopes to site two wind turbines to generate electricity and money for the island says he can’t see any reason why the community would not support the plans.

Farmer Sandy McIntyre spoke to The Buteman after a site visit organised by BCP to the location of the proposed turbines - a hilltop site north of Auchintirrie farm, about three miles west of Rothesay.

“It’s positive for the island and for the farm,” he said.

“Yes, we wouldn’t be doing it if we weren’t getting paid, but there are great benefits for everybody in the initial stages - and every time the blades turn they’ll be generating money for the community.”
