VisitScotland has launched a new promotion putting eight thousand free ferry tickets to Bute and other islands across Scotland up for grabs as part of the Year of Homecoming celebrations.

The organisation has linked up with Caledonian MacBrayne and NorthLink Ferries to offer the tickets through a weekly ballot, with the winners to be drawn at random on March 12, 19 and 26.

To enter the competition simply click here, select a ferry provider from the drop-down box, choose your point of departure and destination and enter.

Winners will recieve a pair of adult tickets to the island of their choice within 14 days of the closing date - and if you don’t win on one week, you can register again the next week to be in with another chance.

Tickets are valid for outbound travel from April 15 until October 31, 2014 (excluding Easter weekend and dates in July and August 2014), and are valid for one month from the outbound date of travel, open return.
