There were tears in more than a few eyes on Thursday as P7 pupils at Rothesay Primary said goodbye to their primary school years at the school’s end-of-year service on Thursday.

Each member of the class received the traditional gift of a dictionary to take with them when they start out as S1 pupils at Rothesay Academy in August, and there were lumps in the throats of pupils, staff and parents as the class sang the song ‘Wherever I Go’ from the Hannah Montana TV series.

But there were smiles too, not least in the pupils’ review of the school year in numbers, which included mentions of nine school trips, 28 triathlon medals, six ‘crazy grannies’ at the school talent show, 28 ukuleles bought for pupils in P5/6, seven lost footballs - and in one pupil’s case, “ten pairs of glasses broken in my seven years at primary school”!
