Santa helps Bute bus users raise charity cash
Children and staff at Apple Tree Nursery - one of three organisations looking after Bute's young people to receive a share of the Santa collection organised on West Coast Motors' local bus services.
Kind-hearted passengers on West Coast Motors’ Bute bus services donated more than three hundred pounds to enjoy having Santa Claus drive them around in the run-up to Christmas.
The appearance of Santa behind the wheel of the island’s buses has become a much-anticipated part of the festive season on the island, as he and his little helper - also known as driver Robert Wood - bring an extra touch of Yuletide cheer to Bute’s public transport.
In conjunction with Santa’s stint behind the wheel, Robert also organises a collection for local good causes, which this year raised £330 - a sum split equally between Apple Tree Nursery (pictured), Rothesay Playgroup and the King Street Toddlers.
Apple Tree Nursery manager Lesley-Anne Lee said: “We would like to thank all the customers of West Coast Motors for their generosity, and also Robert for being Santa’s helper and Paul for being Robert’s relief helper.”
