A Rothesay takeaway has become only the fourth establishment on Bute to receive a Food Standards Agency Eatsafe award.

Reza Haghparast from the 3 in 1 takeaway in Argyle Street was presented with the business’s Eatsafe certificate by Argyll and Bute provost and island councillor Len Scoullar and the council’s Bute environmental health officer Richard Gorman on Wednesday.

The award scheme operates across Scotland and is aimed at providing an incentive to food businesses to achieve food hygiene and food safety management standards that go beyond those required by the law, and helps consumers by providing a recognisable sign of excellence in food hygiene standards.

The other Bute establishments boasting an Eatsafe certificate are the Glenburn Hotel, Rothesay Joint Campus and Ettrick Bay Tearoom.
