Beth Swan has made it through to the regional finals of the TeenStar talent competition, to be held in Glasgow in April.

An 11-year-old Rothesay Primary pupil has been given the big thumbs up by judges in a brand new talent competition for teen and pre-teen performers.

Beth Swan has made it through to the regional finals of the TeenStar competition, and is preparing to perform at the contest’s regional finals at the Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow in April.

Beth, competing in the competition’s 12 and under category, sang the Kelly Clarkson hit ‘Because Of You’ in the first stage of the competition in Glasgow on February 9 in front of a panel of five judges.

She’s now preparing for her appearance in the regional final on April 6, in front of a live audience - although as regular readers of The Buteman will know, Beth is no stranger to singing in front of big crowds.

In November she left the audience at a Radio Bute fund-raiser in Rothesay spellbound with a set which included Queen’s ‘Somebody To Love’, and then she played the title role in her school’s pre-Christmas pantomime, Cinderella Jones - showing a singing talent which hints at big things to come in the future.
