Rothesay pupil awaits Scottish Youth Parliament election result

Rothesay Academy pupil David McLaughlin will find out later today whether he’s won a seat in the Scottish Youth Parliament.

David is one of four candidates fighting for two Argyll and Bute seats at the SYP, which describes itself as “the democratically elected voice of Scotland’s young people”.

Results from across Scotland are being declared throughout Friday, and Ewan McDonald-Russell, the SYP’s parliamentary and press officer, told The Buteman that the Argyll and Bute result is expected some time after 4pm.

David’s manifesto contains five pledges: to get local alcohol taxes put back into youth projects in Argyll and Bute, to introduce student fares on CalMac ferries, to improve educational access throughout Scotland, to increase the activities available to young people in Argyll and Bute, and to re-open the tennis courts in Rothesay.
