Police in Rothesay are appealing for information from the public after a charity box was stolen from a butcher’s shop in the town.

The box, containing money donated to the local branch of Cancer Research UK, was taken from the premises of Richard H. McIntyre in the Gallowgate on January 30 or 31, though staff did not realise the box’s removal was the result of a theft until some days later.

Sergeant Dave Wilkinson from Police Scotland in Rothesay said: “Anyone with any information, or who comes across a Cancer Research UK charity box, should contact PC Robin Bond at Rothesay police office.”

Information can be passed to PC Bond via Police Scotland’s non-emergency telephone number - simply dial 101 and ask for Rothesay police office.
