Rothesay man jailed after cannabis find
A ROTHESAY man was jailed for eight months at the town’s sheriff court this week after 20 bags of herbal cannabis were found at his partner’s home.
Ian Mooney (33), address given as Flat 4/1, 17 Bishop Street, admitted possession with intent to supply the class B drug after police searched the house in Glebe Terrace on August 24 and found 43 grams of herbal material with an estimated value on discovery of between £250 and £350, along with a set of micro scales and a number of sealable bags.
On being cautioned and charged Mooney told officers the drug - which tested positive as cannabis - was for his own personal use.
Jim Hannay, defending, told the court Mooney had a partner and three children under ten years of age, who all lived at the address in Glebe Terrace where the drugs had been found.
Mr Hannay said Mooney and “three or four others” had put money in to buy the drugs, and that when Mooney bought them he was given one large bag with the drugs divided up into various smaller bags inside.
