Rothesay’s retained firefighters hit the streets on Saturday to raise money for the service’s charity.

The local crews braved heavy rain to collect donations from members of the public for the Fire Fighters Charity, formerly known as the Fire Service National Benevolent Fund, which helps support injured or ill firefighters by providing a range of services aimed at enhancing quality of life and supporting people in the service when they are in need.

The idea for the collection was the brainchild of local firefighter Henry Tait, who benefited from the FFC’s assistance after a heart attack earlier this year.
