Rothesay builder strikes gap site shop deal

Local firm George Hanson Building Contractors has reached a deal with an as-yet-unnamed firm to lease the ground floor retail space in a new building which will occupy this gap site in Guildford Square in Rothesay town centre.

The Rothesay builder who is developing a gap site in the centre of the town has concluded a deal for the lease of the retail unit which will form part of a new building on the site.

But George Hanson has told The Buteman that he is still not in a position to announce the identity of the retailer who will occupy the ground floor of the block at 15-19 Montague Street.

Mr Hanson said the deal - achieved after “many months of discussion” - meant that construction work at the gap site could now get under way.

“The lease agreement is the last piece of the jigsaw that allows the development to proceed,” Mr Hanson told The Buteman.
