Pupils from Rothesay Academy toured the town this week to present food hampers to some of Bute’s most vulnerable residents.

Members of the school’s XL group visited the sheltered housing complexes at Foley Court, Rothesay Court and Ferfadd Court, and also called at the local social work office, Bute Community Links and the Help Project, to distribute the hampers after a Christmas appeal for donations of non-perishable food met with a bumper response from the public.

We caught up with pupils Sean Armstrong, Jamie Charlton and Chloe Colman as they delivered a parcel to Agnes Keegan, who lives at Foley Court in the town’s High Street.

The group, led by Academy staff members Ailsa Cassidy, John McGinnes and Lynnsay Templeton, singled out the Trinity Church Sunday school, Dolores Irving and the staff and customers of the Galatea Bar, the Academy’s pupils and staff, their family and friends and The Buteman for supporting the appeal.
