A fourth year pupil at Rothesay Academy has won a competition to create a new sign to help the public find their way around the Victoria Hospital in the town.

Staff at the hospital identified the need for additional signage in the hospital’s reception area towards the end of last year, and the hospital’s chaplain, Raymond Deans, invited the Academy’s graphic communication department to have some of its pupils create a new sign.

Some very high quality and imaginative work was produced by pupils in Mr Erskine’s classes and, after much checking out with staff and patients, S4 pupil Ryan Leitch’s design was chosen as the winner.

The sign itself was produced locally by Bute craftsman Malcolm Johnston, and was unveiled on Friday, with hospital and Academy staff in attendance.
