‘Rock Up In Red’ roadshow visits Rothesay
Children from Apple Tree Nursery are entertained by The Barrow Band at Tuesday's 'Rock Up In Red' roadshow at Bute Produce.
Delicious soup, risotto and vegetarian haggis warmed the cockles of visitors to Bute Produce’s market garden at Ashfield on the outskirts of Rothesay on Tuesday.
The occasion was a visit to Bute by the ‘Rock Up In Red’ roadshow, a joint venture by NHS Highland, the British Heart Foundation and Local Produce, an Argyll-based group aiming to promote the benefits of good, healthy eating.
Among the attractions were former Mount Stuart chef Alison Sykora, who cooked up a variety of mouthwatering dishes during the course of the afternoon, and the musical talents of The Barrow Band, who entertained groups of visiting children from Rothesay Primary Pre-5 and Apple Tree Nursery with food-related songs.
On a bitterly cold day, though, it was definitely Alison’s hot food which hit the spot with most of those attending!
The roadshow’s tour also includes visits to Campbeltown, Oban, Bowmore, Tarbert and Dunoon.
