Results of Bute police consultation

Police Inspector Gordon Anderson has provided results of a recent police consultation report, which highlight the issues which the community have deemed to be of most importance.

At a meeting of Bute Community Safety Forum this morning, drug dealing, drunk and disorderly behaviour, violent crime and speeding motorists have, as in previous years, been rated as top priorities from the 100 respondents surveyed.

Inspector Anderson said that ‘fear of crime’ has dropped to 6.7 per cent, from 12 per cent last year, with 94 per cent of respondents believing that police are focused on the most important issues in the community.

In last year’s report, 23 per cent of those surveyed believed that car crime was problematic on Bute, whereas that number is now only 4 per cent.

The Inspector stated that, as in previous years, the issues which the public have raised as being of concern will continue to be addressed across the island.
