A new-look website for VisitBute was unveiled at a launch evening in the United Church of Bute on Wednesday evening, marking a new beginning for the organisation.
With four directors now on board - Sophie Reid, James McMillan, Barbara Lynn and Kathryn McMillan - and several intimations of interest from attendees at the launch, the organisation seems keen to turn a chapter in what has been a challenging period.
Welcoming those who attended the evening, James McMillan said: “We want to see the name of Bute spread far and wide. We all love it here, and we need to tell the rest of the world to come and experience Bute for themselves.”
The new website, designed by Bute B&B owner and website designer Andy Walters, will now be managed entirely on the island. The designers of the previous website - Blue Square Design - would make changes only on acceptance of a quote for the work. Now, any administrator of the site can instantly make changes and updates as required.
With its fresh new look - and removal of the ‘Over-awed, Over-Here’ concept - the site is more interactive including the use of videos promoting the island, and is both smartphone and tablet friendly.
