Primaries’ cross-country challenge

Children from the island’s three primary schools - Rothesay Primary, North Bute Primary and St Andrew’s Primary - took part in a cross-country challenge at the public park this afternoon.

Surface conditions could only be described as ‘boggy’, with mud splattered up the children’s legs before the race had even begun - but of course, it only made things more interesting for the youngsters.

After a warm-up session with Active Schools co-ordinator Chris South, the boys lined up at the starting position awaiting three words: ‘ready, set, go!’.

The girls followed shortly after and gave many of the lads a run for their money as they took on the course which led from the lade pitch, across the bridge, past the tennis courts, along Lover’s Walk towards the cemetary, along the High Street, heading back down past the rugby goals.

Well done to all who took part!
