Port Tiddlers receive award of almost £10,000

A PORT BANNATYNE parents and toddlers group has been awarded almost £10,000 to enhance the service they provide families in the area.

Port Tiddlers, run by Nicola Jones, has secured £9991 from the Communities and Families Fund, set up by the Scottish Government and the Big Lottery Fund Scotland, which supports local projects that help families and communities give children the best start in life.

The group will purchase new equipment allowing them to provide additional physical activity and arts based classes. These more structured sessions will result in better mental and physical health for both parents and children attending. Port Tiddlers will also increase their presence at community events, holding story telling shows and puppet shows. Here children and families will become directly involved, dressing up and becoming helping to film such events. Parents and volunteers will then use this content to create a DVD, celebrating their achievements.

Michael Russell, Argyll and Bute MSP, said: “I am delighted to hear that Port Tiddlers in the Argyll and Bute constituency has recently been successful in applying to Communities and Family Fund, securing a total of £9991 funding.

“I hope that you will join with me in congratulating Miss Nicola Jones and all involved at Port Tiddlers,.”
