Police warning over bill scam phone calls
Police on Bute have issued a warning after members of the public received phone calls requesting money for work which hasn’t in fact been carried out.
Inspector Gordon Anderson from Strathclyde Police in Rothesay said: “Over the last few hours several members of the public have received phone calls requesting money for various types of work which hasn’t been carried out.
“It is a male’s voice who is requesting the money in cash.
“If any members of the public are suspicious to the nature of the calls or similar calls please contact Rothesay Police Office who will carry out the necessary enquiries.
“The requests for money, which the police are now aware of, relate to work allegedly carried out and requests are for ficticious bills to be paid.”
If you have received any calls along the lines described, you can report the matter by contacting Strathclyde Police on (01700) 894000 and asking for Rothesay police office.
