Police on Bute to step up high-profile patrols

Police on Bute are to spend more time on the streets over the next few weeks tackling some of the issues causing most concern on the island.

More high-profile patrols are to take place as part of Operation Myriad, a five-month campaign across the Strathclyde Police area aiming to cut down violence, disorder, anti-social behaviour, serious and organised crime and road traffic and drug offences

Members of the public can expect to see more officers on high-profile patrols, visiting licensed premises, targeting drink drivers and carrying out static road checks.

Further attention will placed on those individuals who carry knives or weapons whilst officers will visit local schools to warn of the dangers and consequences of crime.

Inspector Gordon Anderson from Rothesay Police Office said: “Members of the public should be assured that this operation will assist public safety and will disrupt and detect the minority who carry out criminal activities in this area.”
