New kitchen donated to sheltered housing residents
RESIDENTS at the Ferfadd Court sheltered housing complex in Rothesay were recently treated to a new communal kitchen for the lounge area, courtesy of contractor Carillion.
Carillion staff had been working on improvements to kitchens and bathrooms within flats at Ferfadd Court as part of Argyll Community Housing Association’s investment and regeneration project, and offered to donate and fit a new kitchen in the lounge of the local complex.
Carillion staff completely removed the old kitchen units and replaced it with modern units.
In addition to residents benefiting from the use of the new kitchen, local groups such as the Ferfadd Court lunch club, exercise group, whist group and church service attendees will also be able to enjoy using the new facilities.
Resident Kathleen MacMillan said: “The new kitchen is lovely, fresh and spacious. All the additional cupboard space makes a huge difference for storing all our crockery and cutlery, and it is much easier to keep clean as well.”
ACHA chief executive Alastair MacGregor added: “I’d like to thank Carillion for their very generous donation of a communal kitchen for Ferfadd Court. I hope it will be widely used by the residents and users groups in the future.”
