New Argyll police chief is named

The first local police commander for Argyll and West Dunbartonshire under the country’s new single force will be Chief Superintendent Russell Dunn.

Mr Dunn will be part of a team of chief superintendents covering 14 areas across Scotland when the country’s eight police forces are merged into a single service, Police Scotland, from the start of April.

Mr Dunn, who will also have responsibility for the Renfrewshire and Inverclyde area, is currently Strathclyde Police’s assistant chief constable for crime and community safety, although he previously spent 12 months as a divisional commander based in Dumbarton covering the Argyll, Bute and West Dunbartonshire area.
