National Schools Film Week returns to Bute
National Schools Film Week returns to Rothesay later this year with a screening of the 2009 family animation Eleanor’s Secret at the Discovery Theatre in Rothesay.
Bute schoolchildren will be among thousands of young people going to the cinema free of charge throughout the UK as part of the week-long festival, which runs from November 1 to 9.
The festival aims to support classroom teaching by providing schools with a powerful experience for students that links directly to elements of the curriculum.
The 2011 festival was attended by 470,000 students and their teachers, and this year’s event features 2,500 screenings at 570 cinemas across the UK.
Festival director Nick Walker said: “The Festival seeks to create a greater awareness and understanding of cinema based on the concept of relationships and dialogues in a variety of films, address issues of cultural exchange and raise awareness amongst teaching professionals of the use of film across the school curriculum.
Eleanor’s Secret will be screened at the Discovery Theatre on Wednesday, November 7.
