A day and a half after three-year-old Mikaeel Kular was reported missing from his home in Edinburgh, police on Bute have joined in the nationwide appeal for information about the boy.

A Scotland-wide child rescue alert was issued on Thursday night in the hunt for Mikaeel, who has not been seen since he was put to bed at his home in the Drylaw area of the city the previous evening.

Inspector Gordon Anderson, Police Scotland’s senior officer on Bute, contacted The Buteman on Friday to pass on the national appeal from the Missing People charity urging anyone who may have seen Mikaeel, or have any information about his disappearance, to get in touch by phoning 0300 300 0200.

* There is no information linking Bute to any aspect of Mikaeel’s disappearance; police inquiries are still concentrating on the areas of Edinburgh nearest to his home, but concern over his safety has led to the appeal for information being published across the country.
