Man dies following Bute aircraft crash

A 63-year-old man has died after the aircraft he was travelling in crashed in the Kingarth area of Bute on Saturday, August 9.

A 63-year-old man has died after the light aircraft he was travelling in crashed in Kingarth, Bute, on Saturday, August 9.

The man, who was accompanied by a 52-year-old man, died earlier this morning in the Southern General Hospital. His relatives are aware and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

The 52-year-old, who was conveyed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital by air ambulance, remains in a critical condition.

Police Scotland is continuing their investigations into the incident, and is working closely with the Air Accidents Investigation Branch.

Officers working on the investigation are urging any witnesses to contact them, and would like to obtain any video or mobile phone footage which may help with their enquiries.
