In pictures: Collision damage to Rothesay relief ferry

Waiting for Video...

Buteman reader Tim Saul has sent on three pictures of the damage sustained when Rothesay’s winter back-up ferry MV Coruisk collided with Dunoon pier in thick fog on the morning of March 11.

The pictures, originally by Colin Leck, were taken after the vessel’s damaged bow visor was removed on her arrival at James Watt Dock in Greenock.

The ferry, which provides relief cover on the Wemyss Bay route during the annual overhauls of the route’s two resident ships, MVs Bute and Argyle, had been providing passenger-only back-up on the Gourock-Dunoon service on charter to Argyll Ferries.

MV Coruisk is due to take up her summer duties on the Mallaig-Armadale route on Friday, April 4.
