‘Guarantee given’ over reinstatement of Ardbeg Point

The recreational land at Ardbeg Point has still not been properly reinstated to its original condition after being used as a work site by Scottish Water's contractors, George Leslie Ltd, in 2011.

A long-running row over the reinstatement of a popular patch of recreation ground on Bute could at last be within sight of a solution.

Bute Community Council heard this week that a guarantee had been given over the reinstatement of Ardbeg Point, which was used as a site HQ for Scottish Water’s project to connect Ardbeg and Port Bannatyne to the Rothesay sewerage network in 2011.

BCC chair and Ardbeg resident Grace Strong told the organisation’s March meeting she had held a meeting at the site with representatives of George Leslie Ltd, the contractor used by Scottish Water to carry out the work.

“They were quite horrified at the state of the site,” Miss Strong said. “They said they would get an engineer to look at the drainage, and gave me a guarantee that the place would be put back as it was before all the work started.”
