A happy holidaying couple have just enjoyed a week-long visit to Bute - 50 years after spending their honeymoon on the island.

Ann and Norrie Agnew met as holidaymakers on the Rothesay Pavilion dance floor in 1962, which made Bute the natural choice for their honeymoon after they were married at St Gabriel’s Church in Govan in July 1964.

And half a century after tying the knot, they chose to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary not just by coming back to Bute, but by staying at the very same accommodation they used on their honeymoon - Prospect House in Ardbeg.

Asked what they thought of the island in 2014, Ann said: “It’s good to see the efforts being made to turn things around.

“When you go out of the town, it doesn’t matter where you drive to - every time you turn a corner, you see a different view, but it’s always beautiful.”
