Five community initiatives on Bute have become the latest local groups to benefit from the generosity of customers at a Rothesay thrift shop.

Cheques totalling £2,610 were presented by the team at For Bute in Victoria Street on Friday, with the individual donations, and their purposes, as follows:

£500 to the Isle of Bute branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland to help with repairs to the roof of their premises in Deanhood Place;

£210 to Alan and Georgina Denholm to assist with the cost of a brush cutter in their ongoing efforts to tidy up the rockery around the Chapelhill viewpoint, next to the old Rothesay Academy;

£200 to the Pass It On project, set up to provide those in need with items required to improve their standard of living, for starter packs;

£200 to Light Up Bute to help with the cost of the project’s programme of community events.
