First hints of Argyll and Bute budget proposals
The first signs of what may be in store in Argyll and Bute Council’s 2013-14 budget proposals have begun to emerge.
The proposals won’t be officially announced until Thursday, but The Buteman understands that the area’s secondary head teachers have been told to find ways of reducing their spending by 3.7 per cent, although front-line teaching provision will not be affected.
We also understand that a further proposal involves getting rid of janitorial services in Rothesay, Dunoon and Helensburgh to bring them into line with other areas of Argyll and Bute, with janitorial duties taken on by existing Streetscene or estates management employees.
The authority’s 2013-14 budget and council tax levels will be set at a full council meeting in Lochgilphead on February 14.
We’ll publish more information on the authority’s budget proposals when we receive it.
