Driver airlifted after heart attack at wheel

A LOCAL man who suffered a heart attack at the wheel of his car was airlifted to hospital on the mainland on January 9.

It is believed that the man blacked-out while driving in Albert Place that afternoon, resulting in his car veering across the road and colliding with a bollard.

Once the man had been conveyed to the Victoria Hospital, police cordoned off the vehicle, as it was sitting on top of a live electrical wire, and directed traffic on both sides of the road.
