Cyclist airlifted after Bute road accident

A 51-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital after the bicycle he was riding collided with a stationary car near Port Bannatyne.

The accident happened at around 7.35pm on Tuesday on the A886, near the entrance to the Ardmaleish Boatbuilding Company’s yard.

The public park in Port Bannatyne was closed for a short time to allow an air ambulance to land so the injured man could be transferred to the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow.

At the time this article was published the man’s injuries were still being assessed.
