Court: Sheriff’s prison warning for Rothesay teen
A Rothesay teenager was warned he was on a path which would land him in prison when he appeared at the town’s sheriff court this week.
Nineteen-year-old Nicholas Robinson had admitted behaving in a disorderly manner, likely to cause fear and alarm, by shouting, swearing and attempting to engage members of the public in a fight in Meadows Road on August 6.
Robinson had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to a similar charge involving shouting, swearing and uttering threats in a separate incident in Ardbeg Road on April 3.
That led Sheriff Ruth Anderson to warn him: “It seems to be you’re going the way of many other young men before you, and inevitably that way will end up in prison if you don’t do something about your behaviour.”
Jim Hannay, defending, said Robinson, of Beechlea, 3 Minister’s Brae, was taking medication which was affected by his drinking alcohol.
* Colin McKirdy (48), address given as Flat 0/1, 49 Castle Street, Port Bannatyne, was fined £100 in court on Monday after admitting being in possession of a small quantity of cannabis resin at Rothesay police office on September 7.
