Court: Rothesay teens fined for attacks on police
Two Rothesay teenagers were hit in the pocket at the town’s sheriff court on Monday for their parts in separate incidents in which two police officers were assaulted in the execution of their duty.
Nineteen-year-old James Crichton, address given as 34 Montague Street, admitted assaulting an officer by digging his fingernails into his hand after being seen in the town’s Gallowgate on April 15 in a state described by fiscal depute John Penman as “clearly the worse for wear”.
Crichton also admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause a reasonable person fear or alarm by shouting, swearing and seizing hold of a police vehicle; he was fined a total of £240.
Meanwhile Lewis Craig (18), address given as 7 Bryce Avenue, was fined a total of £270 after admitting shouting, swearing and assaulting a police officer by pushing the door of a marked police vehicle against the officer’s body in Montague Street on May 26.
