Court: Port driver is banned for two motoring offences
A Port Bannatyne man was given an interim driving ban at Rothesay Sheriff Court on Monday after being found guilty of two separate motoring offences.
Adam Neil (22), of 2 Bannatyne Mains Road, had denied driving dangerously on the beach at Ettrick Bay on May 22, and driving without due care and attention in the Gallowgate in Rothesay nine days later.
And while Sheriff Ruth Anderson declined to find Neil guilty of the former charge, she did convict him of the lesser charge of careless driving – while on the Gallowgate charge he was found guilty as libelled.
A second driver charged in relation to the Ettrick Bay incident was found not guilty due to a lack of identification evidence
But a third driver, 19-year-old Jordan Morrison, was fined £200 and given three penalty points after admitting his part in the Gallowgate incident on May 31, in which two cars pulled out suddenly and without indicating, causing the driver of a third car to brake sharply to avoid a collision.
* Meanwhile, a 22-year-old Glasgow man was ordered to pay a £160 fine and £240 compensation to his victim after kicking a member of staff at a Rothesay takeaway in the stomach in the early hours of Sunday, April 29.
Rothesay Sheriff Court heard that 22-year-old Christopher McGoran, of 14 Rosehill Crescent, Pollok, had little recollection of the incident after a “heavy drinking session” and was “embarrassed and ashamed” to find himself in court.
* Thomas Mulraney (42), of 36 Argyle Street, Rothesay, was told to be of good behaviour for the next three months after admitting causing his former partner to suffer fear and alarm and smashing a phone to the ground after an argument at an address in Mountclare Gardens, Port Bannatyne, on May 7.
* Finally, two men appeared in court in Rothesay on Monday to answer charges relating to an incident in Bellevue Road on March 26; Shaun Masterson (21), of 4 Columshill Place, admitted being in possession of an offensive weapon, namely a piece of wood, while Michael Hassan (24), of 20 West Princes Street, admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing and making offensive gestures.
