Rothesay singer Aimee Scarlett will perform in the grand final of the Open Mic UK competition at the O2 in London next weekend - but you can cast your vote for her right now.

Text voting lines for the competition are now open, and you can cast your vote until 10pm on Saturday, January 19 - the day of the final.

Aimee - better known in these parts as Aimee Gilmour - is first in the running order in the 16 and under category in next Saturday’s final.

She was also the only Scottish singer to make it through to the national final of the 16 and under age group from the north of England and Scotland regional final, held in Dewsbury in November.

You can also watch Aimee’s performance in that Dewsbury regional final online - just click on the link to the right of this article to watch and listen to her version of the Paloma Faith hit, ‘Upside Down’.

To vote for Aimee, just text OPEN11 to 86222. Text votes are UK only and cost £1 plus one message at your standard operator rate.

Texting a correct code is the user’s responsibility, so check your text carefully before sending. Texts sent after 10pm on January 19 will not count, although you may still be charged after the lines are closed.

A leaderboard on the Open Mic UK website and the competition’s Facebook page will be updated every other working day with the top-placed acts, with the last update the day before the grand final.

The acts not ranked in the top three by the judges on the day will be eliminated before the text votes are counted. Those acts in the judges’ top three will have their scores ranked and added to the text voting, which will also be ranked.

The acts with the combined highest ranking from audience and judges’ votes will be winners of their age category.
