Can you help shed light on the origin of this Bute Shinty Club ink stamp?

Bute Shinty Club stalwart John Whitelaw has asked for The Buteman’s help in uncovering the story of an ink stamp bearing the club’s insignia.

John purchased the item from eBay but other than having a rough guess at its approximate age - it’s thought to date from the 1950s or 1960s, when the club was still officially known as Bute Shinty and Amateur Athletic Club - neither he nor the senior members of the club he has consulted know any more about why or by whom the stamp was made or what, specifically, it was used for.

If you have any information about the stamp’s back story, let us know by calling 01700 502503 or electronically by clicking on the email address at the top of the story.
