Bute stands up to cancer

Waiting for Video...

Island residents joined together at Guildford Square on Friday afternoon to take part in a mass photocall for the national campaign ‘Stand Up to Cancer’.

Buteman editor Craig Borland - with camera in hand - had an eagle-eyed view of the square from a cherry-picker in the car-park, while children from North Bute Primary School entertained everyone by singing Michael Jackson’s ‘Heal the World’.

Organiser Anna Harrison, manager of the Cancer Research UK shop in Montague Street, thanked everyone in attendance for their donations, and also offered thanks to all her volunteers for their hard work over the past weeks.

Some of the boys from Bute Rugby Club received a round of applause for their bravery by taking part in a sponsored wax, held in the shop window of Cancer Research UK for all to see, no less!

Click on the video above for a few clips from the afternoon’s activities.
