Bute resident Ilmira Griffen became a British citizen at a ceremony in Eaglesham House this week.

 

A Bute resident officially became a British citizen at a ceremony in Eaglesham House on Thursday morning.

Ilmira Griffen took her vows in front of friends, family and Assistant Registrar Sandra Cobain, swearing her allegiance to Queen and country.

Also present to offer congratulations on behalf of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and from Argyll and Bute Council was Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Argyll and Bute, Lyn Bulloch. Ilmira was presented with a commemorative coin and her certificate of naturalisation following the official proceedings.

Ilmira, who originally hails from Uzbekistan , has been living in the UK for four years with some time spent in London, and currently works in Rothesay’s Victoria Hotel.
