Michael Moore MP, the secretary of state for Scotland, has praised the “hugely impressive” businesses and organisations he encountered on his visit to Bute.

Mr Moore visited the community-owned Bute Forest at Rhubodach, met local business representatives at a ‘Totally Locally’ information event and had a tour of Bute Fabrics during his short spell on the island.

“All the different businesses and organisations I’ve met have been hugely impressive,” Mr Moore told The Buteman.

“[Bute Forest] was a great example of a social enterprise and a community with a strong sense of ownership.

“The Totally Locally project on Bute shows real leadership, [and] Bute Fabrics was a great reminder of the tradition of weaving and textiles we have in Scotland and of how businesses inter-connect and remain globally competitive.”

Mr Moore’s Argyll and Bute tour also included visits to Lochgoilhead, Dunoon and the Rest and Be Thankful, as well as interviews on Bute’s two radio stations, Radio Bute and Bute FM, and with The Buteman’s editor Craig Borland.
