Three Bute cyclists completed a 90-mile charity bike ride from Wemyss Bay to Stranraer on Saturday in just five hours.

Marion Murdoch, her daughter Sarah and family friend Christine McArthur set off from Wemyss Bay at 8am, having caught the first ferry from Rothesay an hour earlier - and, after a couple of stops along the way, crossed the finishing line in the Galloway town at around 3pm.

Marion and Sarah have raised more than £2,000 for Alzheimer Scotland as a result of their efforts, while Christine has raised almost £400 via a JustGiving page alone for Diabetes UK.

The trio were accompanied all the way by ‘support rider’ Ian Jardine, with family and friends following on to join in the celebrations at the Corner Pocket in Stranraer once the finishing line had been crossed.
