THE community on Bute has turned out in numbers to show support for the national Armed Forces Day celebration at a gala event in Guildford Square in the centre of Rothesay.
Saturday’s gala day, organised by the Royal British Legion Scotland, was opened by Rothesay resident Lyn Bulloch, depute lieutenant for the county of Argyll and Bute, while John Blick played God Save The Queen on trumpet and piper Robin Patrick played Scotland The Brave.
More than a dozen local and national charities have stalls at the event, while the programme also includes performances by local musicians, singers and dancers and demonstrations of first aid, unicycling and juggling.
Among those attending Saturday’s event were two visitors from the Canadian Rothesay, in New Brunswick, Eric Adams and Mary Haddow, who called in on Bute at the start of a ten-week holiday in Scotland.
