A former Rothesay Academy pupil says she’s been “overwhelmed” by the island’s support for her forthcoming charity trip to Africa.
Jade Officer will travel to Gunjur in Gambia in November with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award as part of a project run by her employer, Lloyds Banking Group.
She’s already well on the way to raising the £800 she needs to pay for the trip - and Jade has told The Buteman that is all down to the generosity of people on the island.
“I’m really, really grateful for all the support they’ve given me,” she said. “I’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of people in Rothesay.
“I know from the comments of people who have done it before that it’s really worthwhile, and it means the world to the people who live there. I just want the people who have raised money so far to know how much it means. It was an amazing gesture.”
