Befriending charity seeks volunteers on Bute

The Home-Start charity is looking for volunteers on Bute to help with its family befriending work and in running the organisation itself.

A befriending scheme for parents in Argyll and Bute is appealing for volunteers on Bute to help support families in need and to help govern the project itself.

Home-Start is looking for people with parenting experience to become home visiting volunteers on the island - no formal qualifications are required, just empathy, a non-judgmental attitude and understand that parenting can be hard for many families.

All home visiting volunteers receive training and ongoing support before they are placed with a family.

Alternatively, if you’re interested in joining Home-Start’s board of trustees you can attend a meeting as a visitor and see if it’s for you. The commitment is one day, bi-monthly, expenses are paid and lunch and refreshments are provided.

Volunteer preparation training lasts four days, usually at the weekends, from 9am-5pm in a local venue. All out-of-pocket expenses are paid, and enhanced PVGs are applied for and paid on your behalf.

For more information on Home-Start call Dee Hancock on 07887 511022 or see www.home-startmajik.org.
