George Leslie Limited have stated that work on Ardbeg Point will begin around mid-May.

Work on restoring the popular recreational land at Ardbeg Point on Bute to its former condition will commence around mid-May, weather permitting.

So says George Leslie Limited - the company contracted by Scottish Water to carry out sewerage work at the site over three years ago, and which has been at the centre of a debate over whose responsibility it was to restore the ground to a good standard.

Local councillor Robert Macinytre, who has been involved in discussions between George Leslie Limited, Scottish Water, Argyll and Bute Council and Ardbeg residents, told us:“I’m delighted that, at last, George Leslie Limited have seen sense and are now going to give the area the attention that it badly needs.

“However, if they don’t put topsoil down they are wasting their time, so I’ve got to emphasise, ‘no topsoil, no grow’.”
