A Victorian garden party at Ascog Hall in July - just one of a range of activities undertaken by local charity Achievement Bute.

Local charity Achievement Bute is having an open day at its base in Rothesay’s Castle Street this week to allow people to find out more about the work of the organisation.

Members of the public can pop in between 10am and 5pm this Friday, January 18, when staff and committee members will be on hand for coffee and a chat.

There will also be the opportunity to sign up for a number of Achievement Bute’s forthcoming events, including a ‘Superheroes’ day at Rothesay Pavilion on Saturday, January 26, which will feature drama workshops led by Hopscotch Theatre Company from Glasgow.

The open day comes hard on the heels of the publication of the charity’s best ever inspection report from the Care Inspectorate, in which the quality of care and support, quality of leadership and quality of staffing were all given the highest possible grading of ‘excellent’.

* For more information on Friday’s open day see this week’s issue of The Buteman - on sale from January 17.
