Gardens all over Bute are receiving some well-earned springtime TLC after a long winter - and the garden at Achievement Bute’s Rothesay HQ is no different.

The local charity enlisted the help of a group of young gardening enthusiasts this week to brush up the back garden at its base in the town’s Castle Street - and to add some new features to the area too.

Around a dozen local children spent a day of their Easter holiday making footprints to be placed along the garden’s barefoot sensory path, building a shelter and a bird box, planting sunflowers and more to make sure the area is in tip top condition for the approaching summer.

Achievement Bute’s Easter school holiday activity programme continues this week with a five-day ‘Art Ashore’ project making a sculpture out of items found on beaches around the island - keep an eye on this site and on the next two issues of The Buteman for more from another busy fortnight for the organisation!
