The school year at Rothesay Academy drew to a close on Friday with the presentation of the school’s 2013/14 Achievement Awards.

Certificates of recognition and special recognition were presented to the pupils from S1 to S6 whose commitment to their work throughout the year marked them out from their peers, while special awards for leadership and citizenship, and for the best performances in history, art, sport and music, were presented by the day’s guest speaker, former Academy school captain Stewart Bicker.

The Academy’s new school and house captains were also introduced and presented with the badges of office they’ll wear in 2014-15: the school captains are Lex Elliott and Marjorie Hogarth, and the house captains are Marcela McMillan and Matthew Leitch (Ettrick), Keriin Jamieson and Douglas Zavaroni (Kams) and Duncan McLean and Jamie Murray (Scalpsie).

The school’s inter-house sports and overall championship trophies were also presented on Friday, with the new captains of Scalpsie house, Duncan McLean and Jamie Murray, accepting the trophy on behalf of the winning house.

The school’s principal academic prizes and general excellence awards will be presented in a separate ceremony after the summer holidays, once the Academy’s SQA exam results have been published.
